You get a letter from the IRS and it says you owe a penalty for various reasons. The IRS is really good at sending out those letters. Assessing penalties is part of their job actually. However many times it is an untrained unsupervised IRS employee who generated the penalty. Calling them is a big waste of time and is very stressful and you won’t get the penalty released

What can you do when you get a letter?

You need to enlist the help of a Tax Resolution Specialist. There are ways to get the penalty removed. It takes considerable skill to do this. First of all you have to get the matter out of the hands of the untrained unsupervised IRS person who sent the letter. They do not know the IRS tax code at all and don’t care to learn.

There are several ways to get a penalty removed depending on the facts and circumstances. The Tax Resolution Specialist is qualified to determine which avenue to use. In the meeting with the specialist it will be determined which course to take. Upon gathering all the facts, the documents can be submitted to the proper IRS authority who does know the Tax Code.

The Tax Code does require the IRS to remove penalties under certain conditions. You must qualify to get the penalty removed. You must meet certain sections of the IRS code.  So, if you get a penalty letter feel free to call Philip Garnett Tax Problem Resolution at 360-623-1375 or email us at [email protected] and we can help you.

Also keep in mind you can’t always blame your tax preparer.

The tax return may indeed have been sent in and the IRS lost the tax return. This happens quite a bit, especially with mailed tax returns. E-file is better but the IRS loses e-filed returns as well.
